Assistance
Lactation Room
A lactation room is provided for nursing mothers that are called for jury duty.  The key is available from the Jury Commission staff.  The lactation room is private and has an electrical outlet, a table, chair and sink for the user's convenience.  Please contact the Jury Commission by e-mail at juryduty@18thjudicial.org or by telephone at 630-407-8785 if you need additional information.
Sign Language Interpreter
Whenever a person with a hearing impairment is summoned for jury service, the Court shall appoint a qualified, nationally certified interpreter of sign language to interpret the proceedings.  The interpreter shall be available to the juror throughout jury check-in, orientation, selection and the trial and may accompany and communicate with the juror throughout any period during which the juror is sequestered or engaged in deliberations.
Assisted Listening Devices
Each courtroom can be quipped with a Sennheiser Infrared Assistive Listen System.  This system includes a stationary IR Emitter unit and portable infrared receivers with lightweight headphones.  Please contact the Jury Commission staff at juryduty@18thjudicial.org to have a device placed in a courtroom.
